Pippa Middleton’s father-in-law has been charged with raping a child and was in custody in Paris Friday, the AFP reported, citing a legal source.
He was arrested on arrival at the Paris Orly airport Tuesday and was released on bail Friday.
David Matthews, 73, allegedly carried out the assault between 1998 and 1999 while vacationing in France, according to the report.

A family spokesperson told the Daily Mail that "David Matthews categorically denies the allegation and unequivocally contests the untrue and scandalous accusation."

France’s Juvenile Protection Brigade is handling the case after a relative reported Matthews in 2017.

Matthews was charged with the “rape of a minor by a person with authority over his victim,” AFP reported.
Matthews’ son, James Matthews, 41, is married to Pippa Middleton, the 34-year-old sister of Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, who is married to Prince William.
